Darkroom Closed for Summer

The Cage and photo labs will be CLOSED for the summer break on Friday, May 12th at 5:00 pm. 

All equipment must be checked in before May 12th at 4:30 pm.

We will re-open Tuesday, September 5th, at 9am.

Spring 2021 OPEN HOURS & POLICY

The Barney Darkroom will be open beginning Thursday, Sept. 28th.

HOURS OF OPERATION:
*these hours are subject to change at any time*

Mondays: 10am-4pm

Tuesdays: 1pm-7pm

Wednesdays 9am-4pm

Thursdays: 12-5pm

Fridays: 12-5pm

 

To use the facility in any capacity you MUST make a reservation online using your NYU ID. 

If you do not have a reservation you will not be permitted in the facility.

ONLY STUDENTS CURRENTLY ENROLLED IN A STEINHARDT PHOTO COURSE OR STUDIO ART MAJORS HAVE ACCESS.

You may make a reservation here.

*If you do not reserve using your NYU email, your reservation will be deleted.*

 

EQUIPMENT CHECKOUT: 

• You do not need a reservation to check out equipment. Please visit the Cage any time during our above hours. 
• If you wish to reserve equipment in advance you may do so by calling the Cage at 212-998-5755. You may reserve equipment as far in advance as you need.
  
• Only one person allowed at the Cage window at a time. Please stay 6 feet apart at the designated markers until the monitor calls you forward.
• All equipment may be checked out for a week at a time
• We will still be upholding our late return policy: For every 1/2 hour that you are late you will be charged $10; this includes the hours we are closed (ie. If you are 24 hours late you will be charged $480 dollars)
• If you know you will be late, please call us at 212-998-5755 to extend your time or stop the clock. 

 

ADDITIONAL POLICIES:

• Masks are required, and must be worn so that they cover your nose and mouth AT ALL TIMES. Students who aren’t wearing their mask properly will lose access to the facility.
• NO Eating or Drinking
• NO Entry without a reservation
• Check In with the Cage and to begin your reservation
• Work at your assigned workstation only. Always maintain 6ft of distance between yourself and others. Only ONE student per workstation at all times.
• NO rearranging your workstation. Set ups are fixed.
• CLEAN your workstation by wiping down all contact surfaces-- including the work surface, and any equipment or technology-- before you leave. Wipe down all shared equipment after each use. (Disinfectant supplies will be provided).
• All standard area safety and clean up rules still apply

Barney Darkroom Closed

The Barney Darkroom is currently CLOSED until further notice.

Please check back here for any further updates.

If you currently have equipment checked, you may keep it until further notice. Once we have more details regarding when NYU will be resuming normal operations, we will be in touch regarding how and when to return equipment.
